Every three years the Fund undergoes an actuarial valuation. An actuary assesses whether the Fund has enough money to pay everyone for years into the future, and what employers should contribute to the scheme.
An actuary is an expert in risks. Actuaries are mathematicians who work in insurance or pensions, and they use their expertise to assess whether there are enough funds to cover future possibilities.
