Our structure ensures the best decisions are made for the Fund and that we remain fully accountable for our actions.
Glasgow City Council has the legal responsibility for the Fund, and delegates this through the Strathclyde Pension Fund Committee, which makes the decisions for the Fund.
Committee:
Formerly referred to as the Sub-Committee, the Committee takes advice from several different internal and external sources before making decisions about investment and the running of the Fund. Overall control of the Local Government Pension Scheme rests with central government.
Investment consultants:
External investment consultants offer advice on the best investment strategies.
SPFO (Strathclyde Pension Fund Office):
Strathclyde Pension Fund Office, with a staff of around 100, is responsible for the day-to-day running of investments, administering payments from employers and to pensioners, as well as communicating any changes in the scheme or Fund and answering your questions.
Representative Forum:
The Representative Forum is the voice of employers, employees, trade unions and pensioners. The Forum, established in 2005, allows these groups to see - and influence - the decision making process.
IAP (Investment Advisory Panel):
The Investment Advisory Panel consists of three external experts, the Council’s Director of Financial Services, and the investment consultants and actuary. The panel monitors investments, develops policy and advises the Committee.
Actuary:
An actuary is an expert in risk and assesses the value of the Fund and whether it will be enough to pay all the liabilities we will have in the future.
