If you leave local government, or move to non LGPS employer, you can’t keep paying in to the LGPS.
You have a number of options when you leave.
One is to defer your pension. If you rejoin the LGPS having deferred your pension, you can link up your periods of LGPS membership.
Deferred members receive an annual benefit statement and a newsletter to keep them in touch with their pension:
