Annual benefit statements

80,000 of our contributing members have been mailed with their 2011 annual benefit statements.

If you haven’t received your statement, it could be that we do not hold an address for you, or that we have an incorrect one for you.

The 2011 annual benefit statements again include a full pensionable service history. This has enabled many members to query whether our records are correct, and we will be working with our employers to investigate these concerns.

Due to the number of queries this may take some time. So we would appreciate you bearing with us for a while if you have been in contact with us about your annual benefit statement and are waiting for a reply.

In the meantime we would like to answer the most common questions that we have been asked about the statements.

Should I be concerned if my statement has incorrect figures?
Your statement is not used to determine your benefits: we have separate processes at retirement that thoroughly check your pay and pensionable service with your employer so that your pension will be based on the correct information. But you should let your employer know now if the details on your statement are incorrect

Can I have a new statement?
We cannot issue a revised statement, as they are produced outside our admin system. Our Benefit Calculator can be used to estimate your retirement benefits.

When will SPFO tell me if I have exceeded the £50,000 annual allowance in tax year 2011 / 2012?
We plan to include this information in next year’s statements.
